Product Description

The Basler Leckerli is a traditional hard spice biscuit originating from Basel, Switzerland. It is made of honey, almonds, candied peel, and Kirsch. "Lecker" means "delicious" in German. The name "Laeckerli" emerges only around 1720, however the popular biscuit was offered already much earlier in good "Bürgerhaeusern" during Advent time. Basler Leckerli were originally created by local spice merchants over 700 years ago and are available year-round. This cookie keeps well for weeks.

  1. Perfect with tea! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Nov 2016

There is nothing quite like a nice cup of tea and a Basler Laeckerli! So glad to have found a source in the USA for our favorite Swiss treat. Also, Swissfavorites packaging is very impressive - cookie bags wrapped in plastic and packed in very strong cardboard shipping box, with the added protection of an extra layer of cardboard. This protects the cookie packages from damage when opening the outer box. Thank you Swissfavorites for taking such good care of my order!

I grew up with Thomy and Ovosport.
Ricola is a must in our cabinet.
Living in Basel I' am familiar with the Basler Laeckerli.

It would not be Christmas for our Grandkids without Laeckerli.

  3. What can I say? I'm addicted to them. 5 Star Review

I first discovered these when I had some co-workers from Basel. Now that I'm retired and don't have that source, I get them here. I like them just about any time, for a snack, for dessert, for no reason at all.

couldnt find a date on the packaging but they seem stale

SwissFavorites responds: Sir, the date is stamped at the bottom of the pack, Yours should read October or December 16, and the package was sealed at shipping time. When we tasted a sample today we found nothing untoward. Sincerely, Walter

Received our five ordered bags on 05/12/16 with expiry dates of 10/31/16 - just marvelous.
Does your organization plan to offer 1000g bags in the future as well? Perhaps all year long or around Christmas time (November through January).

Definitely one of our favorite cookies. Every time I eat one of them I get transported back to my youth in Switzerland where my father always bought us a box when we went to Basel. Thank you for making them available here in the USA!

  10. Like to be back home in Switzerland. 5 Star Review

The Basler Leckerli taste fresh and are delicious. If the shipping was less I would consider buying them again.
SwissFavorites repsonds: as y'all might be aware, the shipping charge is dictated by UPS. Nobody can expect us to lose money on shipping. What we do know also is that shipping 10 bags of Laeckerli is only 1 $ more expensive than shipping one bag. We cannot explain enough that shipping for smallest orders -below 8 lb- is disporportionally expensve. We undertake everything in our power to lower rates for customers, even selsecting USPS if they offer as better deal. This switch is always pre-approved by the customer, before shipping. Of course, people say, I can get this cheaper on Amazon. Yes you can. We found out the hard way. Selling on Amazon created losses for us every time, We got burnt by the shipping which was not reimbursed by Amazon. We cannot afford to do this. We no longer sell via Amazon.
