Description

The Basler Läckerli is a traditional hard spice biscuit originating from Basel, Switzerland. It is made of honey, almonds, candied peel, and Kirsch. "Lecker" means "delicious" in German. The name "Laeckerli" emerged around 1720, however the popular biscuit was offered already much earlier in "Bürgerhäusern" during Advent time. Basler Läckerli were originally created by local spice merchants over 700 years ago and are available year-round. This cookie keeps well for weeks.

    I was introduced to these cookies while visiting a friend in Switzerland. They are absolutely delicious and go great with a cup of coffee while sitting at a cafe. Every time I go back to visit Switzerland, I have to stock up. I'm so happy to have found this website because now I can buy on line and enjoy at home.

    These traditional cookies are absolutely fabulous . In my opinion they are best when a little hard. One word of caution - once you open the bag and eat one you might be tempted to eat the entire bag! You have been warned!
