Description

The Basler Läckerli is a traditional hard spice biscuit originating from Basel, Switzerland. It is made of honey, almonds, candied peel, and Kirsch. "Lecker" means "delicious" in German. The name "Laeckerli" emerged around 1720, however the popular biscuit was offered already much earlier in "Bürgerhäusern" during Advent time. Basler Läckerli were originally created by local spice merchants over 700 years ago and are available year-round. This cookie keeps well for weeks.

Definitely one of our favorite cookies. Every time I eat one of them I get transported back to my youth in Switzerland where my father always bought us a box when we went to Basel. Thank you for making them available here in the USA!

During my travels in Switzerland, I came across these delicious cookies. I brought some home and when they were gone, I wanted more. I couldn't fly to Switzerland just for these cookies. I was happy to find them on-line. Great delivery service and neatly packaged!

Like to be back home in Switzerland.

The Basler Leckerli taste fresh and are delicious. If the shipping was less I would consider buying them again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SwissFavorites repsonds: as y'all might be aware, the shipping charge is dictated by UPS. Nobody can expect us to lose money on shipping. What we do know also is that shipping 10 bags of Laeckerli is only 1 $ more expensive than shipping one bag. We cannot explain enough that shipping for smallest orders -below 8 lb- is disporportionally expensve. We undertake everything in our power to lower rates for customers, even selsecting USPS if they offer as better deal. This switch is always pre-approved by the customer, before shipping. Of course, people say, I can get this cheaper on Amazon. Yes you can. We found out the hard way. Selling on Amazon created losses for us every time, We got burnt by the shipping which was not reimbursed by Amazon. We cannot afford to do this. We no longer sell via Amazon.

    Finally available in the US

I've been addicted to these for years. I'm now retired, but previously Swiss colleagues would bring me a bag of them now and then. (In fact just recently a bag arrived by mail, courtesy of an old colleague.) Now I can order them in the U.S.! I'll leave the description of these wonderful cookies to other reviewers. I must add that SwissFavorites did a brilliant job in packing and sending me 4 bags of these!

I ordered these for my husband's birthday and they were absolutely perfect! So fresh and tasty. They are his favorite treat. My Swiss guy was very happy to have a little taste of his home-country delivered right to our doorstep.

    Very good Basler Läckerli

Published by Peter Baenziger on 29th Oct 2014

Last time I was in Switzerland I bought some Basler Läckerli at the Migros and was very disappointed: dry and flavorless. The "Läckerli Huus" läckerli were a lot more flavorfull, fresher tasting and with much better texture. Highly recommended if you like Basler Läckerli.

Authentic Laeckerli from Basel can't be beat!

Published by Alison Probst on 7th May 2014

Growing up in Basel and loving Laeckerli then, I was so pleased to order 300 packs last year to give as holiday gifts to some very picky people! Of course my family kept some for ourselves and the taste, texture, freshness was as delectable as ever - rich with spices, not too hard or soft, just wonderful!
