Description

Tête de Moine, or 'Monk's Head' cheese, is a semi-soft, rich, and tangy cheese made from fresh part-skim cow's milk, cheese culture, salt, and enzymes.

It is shaved into thin "rosettes" with a "girolle" rotating blade in order to develop its distinct flavors. Tête de Moine is a cheese with a pronounced tangy flavor excellent to visually enhance any cheese and charcuterie plate. Taste phenomenal with sweet mustards and fruit preserves.

    For cheese lovers

I bought the girolle, that is called a curler and ready for the tete-de-moine. This cheese doesn't disappoint the true cheese lover. I did cut off the rind when using the girolle, that way the curled cheese looks like a white flower. We love it.

    Fabulous Cheese

Published by Bart on 26th Dec 2019

Tete de Moine is a fabulous cheese from Switzerland. As well as its sublime taste, it is carved into florets by using a girolle - entertaining your party guests as you serve them an appetizer. High recommend!

    Tete de Moines

Served this at a party and it was a tremendous hit! Excellent quality. I would suggest you also sell the girolle as I wanted one made in Switzerland and it was a bit tough to find. Gave it and the cheese as a gift that was really appreciated! Everything I have purchased over the years from Swiss Favorites has always delighted and been exactly as expected. Thank you

    A great conversation piece

Published by Unknown on 2nd Mar 2014

What makes this cheese unique is not only its richness and "peppery" aroma, but also the way it is served with a Girolle to scrape it and make "flowers". It becomes a great conversation piece. By all means, eat it with your hands with cracked walnuts or pecans.
