Description

Basler Brot, in Basel also Basler Laibli, is a bread traditionally made in the Swiss cantons of Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft, but now popular in all of Switzerland. It is distinguished from other Swiss breads by a very soft, porous dough and a mealy, crunchy crust.

The age of the recipe is uncertain. The Basler Brot was first described in a bakers' journal in 1944. After a marketing campaign by the Swiss Bakers Association in the 1950s, it was made available in all bakeries across Switzerland.

    Like the taste and crust

Published by Rolf on 16th Aug 2021

We are from Switzerland and stay 2 times a year in FL. It was not possible to find a good bread in our area. Now my wife and I are very happy to find it. We are not from the Basel region but the crust is fine. That it will be not more darker you can reheat it with 300 F. It needs longer (appr. 12 min total) and it tastes like in Switzerland, excellent. Thx Swiss Bakery / favorites.

Le Basler pain n’ést pas mon favori. La croûte manque de «  dark chewy crust ». Mais votre magasin....j’adore!

    Echtes Basler Brot

Authentisch echtes Basler Brot. Die dunkel gebackene Kruste ist nicht jedermanns Sache aber eben gut.
